Saint Mary's Hospice of Northern Nevada

Through a philosophy of intensive caring, Saint Mary's Hospice of Northern Nevada gives patients the support and comfort they need to live a fuller, more meaningful life... even in the wake of life-threatening illness. By helping to control the symptoms which may be associated with terminal illness, hospice allows patients to remain at home surrounded by their loved ones during their final days.

At Saint Mary's Hospice of Northern Nevada, we understand that facing the end of life is never easy. We work closely with both the patient and family, integrating their wishes into our plan of care. We also address the patient's physical, emotional and spiritual needs, as well as the family's special needs, enabling everyone to deal with the stress and fear associated with the dying process.

Medical and Spiritual Support for the Patient.

The hospice philosophy empowers the healing of the entire person - body, mind and spirit. At the Hospice of Northern Nevada, we have a complete program of hospice services provided by some very special people.

Our nurses, medical social workers, home health aides, chaplains and volunteers are all especially trained to care for the terminally ill. They are skilled in symptom control and pain management to help make the last stage of life more manageable.

Family Care.

Watching a loved one die is a very painful experience for the family. That is why we believe that caring for the family is just as important as caring for the patient. We work closely with family members, as well as the patient. We make them all a part of our team, and offer special programs to help families deal with the stress of losing a loved one. It takes more than time to heal the grief caused by loss. It takes work and support. Our hospice team provides counseling to family members throughout the dying process, and bereavement support for up to one year after the death. Through one-on-one counseling, as well as group support programs, families know they have a listening ear long after the loss of a loved one.
